Your Custom Squarespace Website Journey: What to Expect
Custom Website Process?
If you're considering a custom Squarespace website, you might be wondering, "What would the process actually look like if we worked together?"
The design process can sometimes feel a bit mysterious or overwhelming, so I've put together this roadmap to show you exactly what we would be doing together and when. Think of it as a GPS for what your website journey would look like—no surprises, just a smooth ride to your dream website.
A Process Designed for You
First things first: I want you to know that my process is designed to be as smooth and enjoyable as possible. We would take this step by step, and I'd be with you every single step of the way. No overwhelm, no confusion, just a clear path to getting you a website that you absolutely love.
Everything in One Place
Here's one of the best parts: everything we'd do together would happen in one streamlined place. No more digging through endless email chains or wondering where that important file disappeared to.
I use a project portal—it would be your website's home base where all the magic happens. All the tasks, files, and our communication would live here in one organized space.
The Portal's Secret Weapon: Built-in Chat
Inside the portal, you'd find everything you need, but my favorite feature is the built-in chat function. This means you could message me directly anytime you have a question, want to share an idea, or just want to check in. No more searching through emails or wondering if something got lost in spam.
You could literally just pop in and say, "Hey, I found this font I love," or "What do you think about this color?" I'd get the info right away (though that doesn't necessarily mean I'd work on it immediately—but I'd see it!).
The Two-Phase Process
Let's talk about the roadmap. I break the website design process into two main phases, and I promise it's simpler than it sounds.
Phase One: Getting to Know You and Your Vision
Inside the portal, you'd receive a short video introducing you to the space, along with a design workbook. Don't worry—it's actually pretty fun to fill out, and I include lots of help along the way.
Think of it like a creative brainstorming session where you'd get to explore what you love, what inspires you, and what makes your business special. You'd also gather up any content you want on your site—photos, text, that sort of thing.
You'd have a whole two weeks to work on this, so no pressure. Take your time and have fun with it. And remember: the more you share with me, the better I can bring your vision to life.
Phase Two: Creating Your Dream Website
This is where I'd take everything you've shared and start creating. We'd work together on your brand design, then your logo, then your homepage, and finally your complete website.
At each step, we'd review everything together, making any tweaks you want and ensuring it feels absolutely perfect before we move forward.
Communication is Key
Throughout the entire process, I want you to know that communication would be key. If you have any questions, ideas, or even just want to chat about how things are going, you'd simply hop into the portal chat. I check it regularly and I love hearing from my clients.
This would be your website, your vision, and my job would be to bring it to life in a way that makes it feel authentically you. So I always encourage clients to speak up if something doesn't feel quite right or if they want to try something different. After all, that's what revisions are for.
Ready to Get Started?
If you decide to work with me, here's what would happen next: you'd receive your portal link within 24 hours of us kicking off the project. You'd click that link, poke around, get familiar with the space, and then dive into the workbook when you're ready. Remember, you'd have two weeks—there's no rush, but the sooner you'd start, the sooner we'd be done.
I get really excited about each new project and I can't wait to see what we could create together. You'd end up with a website that not only looks amazing but truly represents who you are and what your business is all about.
If this process sounds like a good fit for you, I'd love to chat more about your project!
